Balloon Girl

I went to a wedding yesterday and didn't get back until 4 in the morning so I'm tired and hung-over.

My art for the day is going to be digital for two reasons. One: I can just about handle the laptop and even that is like hard work... Two: I have a million photos to work with from the wedding.

I chose "Balloon Girl" to post because I LOVE it and I like the way that camera RAW works so I thought I'd talk about it. I went through all of my photos in bridge and then on some I just tweaked the clarity a little to give it a soft magical look. On this photo, it makes it look like a painting (and actually it may be at some point). I think that everything works in the photo; colour, subject matter and balance.

I love the way you can work with photos in Bridge and Camera RAW. You can quickly make your photos look professional or artsy.

Now, I have to get ready for yoga (if I'm going to make it). I hope it won't be too strong today. I have to take care of myself in Jamie's class because he works us hard and, IMO, being a boy makes him less sensitive to girlie weakness.

About Me

My photo
I am an American married to a Brit and living in London. I have a 28 year old son who is living in Southern California and trying to decide what to do with his life. He's lovely! I have a 13 1/2 year old poodle with a degenerative muscle thing and I am constantly worried about when and how it will all end for her... I also have 2 mini daschunds (mum and daughter) and thats nice! Oh, and then there's the cat...I teach at a local art college and I have a studio where I paint. I also do sculpture and various other art things. I love to try new things and lately, I am into felting. I love living in South London (Wandsworth) and I have never been happier. There are so many green spaces and I love to go walking with dogs and friends. I am lucky because I can do exactly what I want in my art without having to worry about being commercial, however, it's nice to be recognized for what you are trying to do. Well, that's enough about me for now...
